Dog behaviours alert device by predictive analysis of data from smart collars
Currently, detector dogs’ handlers may not be able to know at the first instance when the detector dogs have positive feedback on detection of contrabands. The Department therefore plans to develop a detector dogs’ behaviours alert device that can alert dogs’ handlers promptly to notice indicators or gestures shown by the detector dogs when detecting or smelling the scents of contrabands such as drugs, explosives, currency, firearms and tobacco.

With various data collected from the smart collars equipped on detector dogs, such as movement / heart rate / barking pattern of the dog, etc., the AI system can make use of machine learning and big data analytics to accurately predict when the detector dogs detect contrabands (such as changes of gestures) during operation, and promptly alert the dogs’ handlers.
