Solution Name

AuraSense SFSVC — AI-Powered Building Façade Corrosion Risk Assessment System

Solution Description

AuraSense SFSVC is a lightweight AI software engine that automates corrosion risk assessment for building facades, aligned with Hong Kong's Mandatory Building Inspection Scheme (MBIS). The system ingests drone imagery, depth sensor data, and building context (age, environment, exposure) to detect surface cracks, bulging, leakage and spalling, then automatically classifies each defect using MBIS Code of Practice risk bands: No Immediate Action Required, Require Investigation, Require Repair, and Imminently Dangerous / Dangerous. Outputs include a colour-coded facade risk map, per-crack corrosion risk inventory, chemical risk scores (pH and chloride ingress), and an HTML inspection report with plain-language RI wording that Registered Inspectors can use to support statutory MBIS findings. The system operates in real time on standard hardware, requires no cloud GPU, and supports versioned calibration profiles with regression test suites for governance and auditability.

Use Case

AuraSense SFSVC addresses the critical challenge of maintaining the safety and structural integrity of Hong Kong's ageing building stock. Traditional façade inspections are costly, time-consuming, and labour-intensive, often requiring scaffolding and placing inspectors at risk. Our solution deploys autonomous drones equipped with high-resolution cameras and environmental sensors to systematically scan and capture façade imagery. The AI engine then analyses the data in real time to detect corrosion, cracks, spalling, water seepage stains, and deformation — grading each defect by severity and urgency. Benefits to Public Services:

• Reduces inspection cost by up to 60% versus conventional scaffolding-based methods

• Cuts inspection time from weeks to hours for a typical residential block

• Delivers objective, data-driven risk ratings, removing human subjectivity

• Generates auditable digital reports aligned with Buildings Department (BD) Mandatory Building Inspection Scheme (MBIS) requirements

• Enables proactive maintenance scheduling, reducing emergency repair expenditure

• Enhances public safety by detecting high-risk defects before failure occurs

The system is fully cloud-based, scalable across entire housing estates or public owned facilities, and supports integration with existing government asset management platforms.
