Currently, information related to detector dogs and the dogs’ handlers is mainly recorded in paper form. To provide a more systematic and effective management of these records, the Department plans to develop a centralised management system that can maintain records of the detector dogs, their handlers and the related resources.

Expected Outcomes

With the centralised resource management system, the department can effectively manage the breeds of the detector dogs, their received training, their feeding, medication and exercise records, their handlers’ profiles, as well as the duty roster of the detector dogs and their handlers. The teams’ inventory can also be managed systematically by maintaining records of the dog-related consumables, generating purchase request lists based on the stock consumption status and recording inventory related processes, such as stock-in, stock-out, and stocktaking. Various reports and dashboards can be generated for monitoring the performance and achievements of the detector dogs and their handlers.
